On my 99 5.0 carb alpha there is a sender for the gauge and a sensor that is connected to the alarm. It looks like a normal GM coolant sensor. Is this only for the alarm or is it also connected to the Thunderbolt ignition? I need to replace it cause the alarm was acting up the motor temp was fine. (checked with a heat gun) I disconnected it to get home without the alarm going off and the motor seemed to run the same. Just wondering?

Thats what I thought but I was wondering if the Thunderbolt V had different spark maps for different temps.

I just found it wierd they used a coolant sensor that varyies its resistance based on temp just for the alarm circiut
