Looking to change boats and came across a candidate with a 1998 130 2 stroke Yamaha. The boat and motor both look clean and well taken care of, but I honestly don't know much about Yamaha outboards. I've always been an OMC guy and my dad Mercury. Is there any reason to stay away from this model assuming it's been well taken care of? For example I know the Evinrude guys will tell you to run away from the early Ficht injection models. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything like that here. Thanks!

Yamaha 2 stroke outboards are usually about as bullet-proof as you can get....but the best way to evaluate the motor you're considering purchasing is with a thorough sea trial....starting, idle, slow, mid range and wide open.
