1997 to 2001 2 stroke mercury 90hp

Does somebody knows if everything from a 1997 2 stroke merc 90hp is compatible with the same engine from a 2001?
I have a 1997 engine that I would like to swap parts to a newer 2001 engine.

Everything will swap..to make lower unit work will need to use old shift rod and linkage

Awesome, so the only thing will be and I can make it work by swapping those parts to the newer one?
