1997 9.9hp Evinrude to 15hp

Can someone tell me if I can turn my 1997 Evinrude 9.9 to 15hp,,if so how is it done and where can I get the parts to do it? thank you Mike

Look at the parts diagram for each motor and compare the part numbers.

If you believe it's just a carb switch, compare parts numbers like ondarvr says. Once you decide on parts and numbers, can locate source(s).

Leroys ramblings won't help as that post covers the 92 and earlier 13 cid block your 97 has the 15 cid block. Probably talk to a dealer if BRP does what evinrude did both motors will have the same part# for the carb. Or find a racing website where they modify motors like www.screamandfly.com somebody there will know. I bet it won't be worth the money your 9.9 is a pretty strong motor as it is

mmm..think Leeroy's gen discussion could be helpful -- background if nothing else. Agree on recommendation of the 9.9, but true believers in switching are usually pretty adamant.
