1997 225 need help with no oil light!

i have twin evinrude 225 1997 the port engine guage has no oil light when key is turned on and started i changed VRO pump still on!, checked oil tank filter and float low oil light comes on when i move the float , when i switch wiring harness from starboard side to that guage same light (no oil) is on, Could it be the guage it self or am i missing something?????????

Probley Tach, but depends on mfg of tach, and how engines are rigged. Alarm sounding when this happens?

yes alarm sound and tach does go up and down but cam the tach cause this with engine off and key on only?

Yes, the tach has the microprocessor that decides which light to light and does the horn self test. I am getting this out of the manual. I would switch the tach leads, the problem stay with the same tach, replace tach. I think I am going mad, I have looked a diagrams all day.
