1996 8 hp Mercury Lower.

I need a little advice in dropping lower unit on 8hp 96 model mercury. I can't find any linkage connections, just the guide. Bolts loose, it drops 2 inches. Tiller shift. I've not attempted to force it off because I don't know how the shifter is connected inside the lower unit. thx.

I bought an instant manual to answer my own question. For anyone elses future reference..The shift retainer, under the hood, at the linkage, needs to be removed as well. Then the bolts, then remove foot. Good day all.
