1995 50hp carb idle air needle adjustments, how many turns out

I am familiar with most motors being 1 1/2 out but rebuilt carbs on 95 50hp and didnt count the turns. Motor will not even run unless i continuously press the primer button on key. Also the plastic covers on side of carb are warped but look like they are sealing could this be a problem. Will run from primer but will not run off carbs. HELP! Oh i got good blue spark and 140lbs compression both cylinders, Vro is still hooked up and carb bowls are staying full of gas.

Just GENTLY turn the mixture screws in until they seat. Then back out 1 1/2. Go from there.

Is your primer (little red) handle folded back along the solenoid body?

primer is in proper position and i have tried them 1 1/2 turns out and wont run that way.

1 1/2 is a starting point. Turn out further in 1/3 turn increments.

i have tried this what do you think about the black plastic pieces that are warped that have the 4 screws over the idle circuit. Do you think this is the problem.

Did you ever get it running? I have the same motor and am trying to adjust the screws. Need help!

A lot of OMC motors do not use the standard 1-1/2 turns for initial adjustment. You might look in a service manual to verify it is correct.

I know this is an old thread, but I am working on the same year motor and trying to figure out where to set this screw. Have to fast idle to get it to start and stay running. Guess I'll start at 1-1/2 and try that in the meantime....
