I just want to check to see if any of you have removed a threaded impeller from the shaft on a Sport Jet 90. I believe it is reverse threads so I will turn clockwise to loosen but I just wanted to make sure. Was reefing on it a bit with a large adjustable but it seems to be on their pretty good. I am thinking that I need to make a custom deep socket for the job and a large breaker bar. If anyone knows the size of the socket I need to create that would be appreciated. Also does anyone know if PB Blaster or WD40 is recommended to help loosen seized threads?

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Re: 1994 Sport Jet Impeller (Threaded)

For those interested I grabbed a caliper and measured the molded impeller "nut" surface to be ~29.15mm.

So we will need a 29mm socket. I went to (Princess Auto/Harbour Freight) and couldn't find a deep socket so I bought two regular and will just get a steel tube of appropriate I.D. to weld in between for the needed 100mm clearance. The shaft size is 20mm so some clearance will be needed for that.

Hope this helps someone else in the future..
