1994-95 Mercury sportjet 90 ignition

My boat died couple of weeks ago,I had no sparks.
After checked the previous posts,now I know my swicthbox is the problem.
In fact had it in a repair shop,after hours of cleaning the black rubber of it,
they measured all the components,and the capacitor is shut.
The switchbox #:18495A26
The capacitor#337-815792 about 2inch long x 0.75 dia.
My question is what is the value of the capacitor,so i can replace it and any idea where can i get one?

It's a MERCURY Sports Jet, an outboard motor on a jet pump, Not a Mecruiser I/O

If anybody interested....I have replaced the capacitor. Put in a 220mfd 63v non polarized electrolytic one,and got sparks as big as a horse.Wondering how long will it last,but only costed me $4.49 .

I just replaced one of the switch boxes on my 1984 115 merc. Like you, I was trying to repair the old one.

I did a search on the capacitor and came up with your post. Is yours still running with the 220mfd, 63 volt cap in place?

I did some research on the voltage the stator produces and its up as high as 320 volts @3000 rpm.

With tax the new one was over $200, a $4.49 repair sounds like a better deal to me. BTW, I soaked mine in lacquer thinner and it made removing the black stuff a lot eaiser.
