I am running a '92 Johnson J120TLAND. I've had some issues with my motor sputtering and killing when running at low speeds or idle. However, this only happens when my engine is trimmed down. I give a little more throttle or trim the motor to prevent it from happening.
I cleaned and rebuilt my carbs this year and checked for level on the floats. The results have been the same before and after. I also check the spark plugs and they seemed a bit black so I've replaced those as well.
Next steps will be to adjust the floats and have them sit a little high and I'll pull the new spark plugs to see if they are still black and oily.
Is there anything else I should be looking at or testing while I have it pulled apart to resolve this idle/trim issue?
