Man, it's been a long time since i have posted......boat has been sitting for 2 years almost. Last time boat was used was July 2015. I started it last year, then never used it. Winterized it and then started it again just yesterday. Have knocking noise when engine is tilted in mid to higher position. Assuming it's the u joints. I've never done them before (pressed on and off), but have done gimbal bearing, water pump impeller, trim tabs on this engine etc, so i can probably tackle this.

My question is, what is the aftermarket part for this application. I am reading and reading but want to be sure i get the right spicer or MOOG part.

Engine # is 0D01166 Transom 0D580734 and Drive 0D566963.

thanks in advance for any help.

PS: found these parts as reference, just not sure it will be applicable to my part search:

SPICER# 5-1306X
ROCKFORD# K1306
DETROIT# 7260
NEAPCO# 1-6300 / 1-6301
PRECISION (MOOG)# 315G
TRW (FEDERAL MOGUL)# 20030 / 20030P

Anything over the spec trim height will cause U joint noise. from anchor pin to anchor pin is 20 -1/2 inches.

Assuming it's the u joints. I've never done them before (

More like operator error

never had this noise before, more like marbles shaking around when engine it tilted up and idling. when i drop the engine to level or just max trim height i don't get the noise.

Just do them. That list is fine.

Don't even start your engine when the drive is up past operating range. Doing so is hammering the u-joints to death.

local supplier doesn't have the spicer number specified, but the cross reference that number to an AC DELCO# 45U0117
