I have a 91 70 tleie that has a lingering spark issue with the middle cylinder. Some time when running the middle cylinder quits firing for a while then will start firing again.
It has done this with several powerpacks. I have replaced all coils and wires, powerpack and cleand all wire conections . Have had temp sensor pluuged and unplugged make no difference. Can the timerbase possibly have a short in the optic sending the signal to the middle cylinder ????
Thanks

Yours is one of a series of engines that required relocation of the tell-tale fitting to the top of the engine in order to route air out of the cooling circuit.

If this was not done, the engine can continue to overheat and damage other components.

Ask your dealer for service bulletin #2276 R1.

There is also a copy of the Service Bulletin 2276 on page 77 of the Rapair [CDI] electronics troubleshooting guide. If you want to download it, copy the following link to your browser without the quotation marks:

It is a large file, so be patient.

I'll look into the water flow mod. but it drops a cylinder on a cold start up some also?

Yes there is no spark on the middle cylinder when it acts up, top and bottm cylinder strong. You can limp around @3000rpm then it will hit and run fine. On a restart some times it will act up.
