1989 150HP trim leak

Hi guys,

The trim on my outboard is leaking and I want to fix it. I'm very handy and always do most of the work on my boat but this will be a first. My first question is, how do I open in it? The oil is under pressure right? I don't want this thing squirting oil all over the place. Also, I do not have the tool to unscrew the top which has 4 holes on it.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

More info.Which ram is leaking?Centre or trim rams.Im rebuilding 2 units at the moment.

The middle ram is the one leaking.

OK so the cap seals are probably popped out and hanging on the top of trim rod,allowing salt/dirt into system and o rings are starting to give way and leak.Whole unit needs to come off boat.Can you post a pic of unit?O ring kits still available,you may also need new cap.Do you have merc service manual?
