Really nice boat that's well worth the effort to fix up and you're doing a textbook job at it!

Got a few free hours in this weekend. I still have to throw one more coat on it for full coverage. MUCH better than the black IMO.

Got some awesome progress done this weekend. I wanted to paint the transom while everything was stripped so I painted the back of the boat and got the transom assembly and other stuff installed. I also had to fix a crack on the bottom that was bugging me from a previous poor repair. Here's some pics of the before and after paint pics. Next year I will paint the rest of the boat with the silver and dark blue theme.

Thanks! Looks like I'm going alot faster than planned. Got the motor in! Real quick as I was cleaning up I checked the alignment of the motor and the tool slid right in with a push of a finger. I'm 97% sure its perfectly lined up. I'm pretty psyched about that because my old boat took a lifetime to get the motor lined up. Here's some pics. If I could only afford some nice stainless marine manifolds. I'm coming down to the wire on the budget haha

Christmas came yesterday! I got these gorgeous McLeod bolsters for the ol girl. Its a HUGE upgrade compared to the old style bolsters I have in there. I'll have to some good pics this weekend of the dash and top side of the interior hull repainted. I'm finally at the step of doing finish work! No more nasty dusty dirty work!

Got the dash painted today. It aint perfect (wont fit in the spray booth) but Its alot better than the black dash. I'm gonna get new dash and switch panels made in silver and I got some hardin stainless gauges with blue rings. I'm glad I'm done with the nasty dusty/dirty work. Now its all finish work and puttin pretty stuff on it!

Wow...great thread! I'm just getting restarted on my 21 Seebold I/O, which needs a gas tank, stringers and a floor. I'll be starting a thread on this project soon, and can only hope to make 1/3 the rate of progress you did. Very impressive...and your work looks superb!

I too will credit Friscoboater's awesomely helpful videos and forum posts with giving me confidence...great work Jay, you're helping a whole bunch of people learn the right way to get it done. Keep up the good work! Nice to see the CVX-18 project...my first boat was a CVX-16 so it brings back some memories.

I used to work for a Seebold dealer (got mine that way), and we sold several of the exact boat you have. They are a 70 MPH boat with the right prop. Seebold was ahead of their time with the pad keel and notch transom hull. At the time, only Velocity and Fountain were using this design...so its in good company...and well worth the restoration work.

The previous glass repair on the rear of your hull may have been done at the factory. We had a couple of them get delaminations of the hull in the keel area (scarey stuff), and Seebold readily took them back for repairs.

Looks like you're fixing all the weaknesses of the initial build, and making some nice upgrades!

Very cool! I have heard of the delamination problems before, kinda unsettling haha. I'm interested in seeing your little 21! I love the Seebold boats for how rare they are. I'm gonna be putting my gauges in soon so I can start finishing the interior and buttoning up the wiring and get some juice back into her so I can can have a functioning boat again!
