I just replaced the waterpump on my 225 and was trying to put the gearcase back on but it stops at least 1 1/2 inches every time. I make sure the water tube goes into the water pump and rotate the crankshaft and can feel the splines line up but that is as far as she goes. The shift rod always looks to be too far behind the gromet. how do I get it lined up so that it will go inside? I thought this was going to be the easy part! Any help is appreciated!
