I realize we are talking mid 80's paint scheme here but, the light blue with the dark blue stripe is kinda cool eh?

I an thinking the 65 mph must be in kill not usa mph I cant imagin that boat with a 120 I O will go 65 USA miles per hour. Mabey 40 -45 at best. More photos I still say it a V5 hull extra strake and again photo the rear of the hull . Good luck and a good trip.

Re: 20'v5 ss

Thanks everyone, it was definatly worth the trip. I did a little climbing around in the engine bay and found out the engine is the four barrel 205 hp version of the 4.3 LX V6. This thing should fly, according to the data I can find it has a dry weight of 1400lbs not a lot more than my 18 with the 120 in it, with 16"s more beam width this boat can't draw a lot of water. I'm hoping to get it running this weekend on the muffs, gotta catch up work after taking last Friday off.

Thanks 64, just a few.
I did a compression test on her yesterday, all 6 are the same, 125 and it hasn't run in 2 years. But the carb is pooched started flooding the engine during the test. Ordered a carb kit and one cooling hose from iboats today, hopefully will have her running and ready for a splash in two weeks.

Re: 20'v5 ss

Found another great product, paint on this girl was really badly oxidized, we used the same stuff on Ole Blue but the paint on her was in real bad shape.

In the process shot, I spent a total of 2.5 hours on both sides and the port side bow.

Looks great. I like the original look to that boat so it's cool you don't have to redo her.

Glen -

You have to give us more details on using that stuff, that refinish job looks FANTASTIC! (what kind of manual labor was done, did you use a polisher, etc). I would use that on my boat and forget repainting for a couple more years if I was sure it would come out that nice, wow! I used 3M's swirl remover, oxidization stuff and it worked ok, but nothing like those photos make that boat afterwards! What give, how'd ya make it work??!!

Re: 1986 ss 201

Thanks Guys, I'm real glad the paint is so nice on this old girl. At first I didn'care too much for it but it has really grown on me. The top of the gunwales and the front and rear deck are not coming out as good as the sides, I may have repaint them, but that is no biggie.

Chuck, it took me a total of 5 hours to do everything except the transom. I use a variable speed 7"angle polisher $49. at pricess auto. 7" orange dimpled foam polishing pad and the Girot garage one step. Just put some polish on the pad, work at the slowest setting on the polisher and have at her, I found I had to go over it twice to even out the shine. Once I'm done with that I am going to put a coat of Mothers FX syntheic wax on for protection, that is another awsom product.

Wow the outside cleaned up real nice. That'll cut your time down on it. Good luck with the inside.
