Hey guys i just bought a 1984 mariner 8hp kicker motor and there is no water pumping out. I am trying to take the lower unit off so i can change the impellor and i can't get it off. If the motor is in neutral when i pull on the lower unit it pops into reverse and gets stuck. If i try in forward it pops into neutral and does the same thing. I also tried reverse with no luck. I am not familiar with mariners and need help. Is there something else i have to take off or losen besides the 4 bolts?? Also where the water is suppose to come out it is filled with a white chalky substance that looks like calcium build up. I cleaned it the best i can but still no water coming out. When i start it a puff of the white substance comes out. Any idea of the best ways to clean it throughout the engine?? Thanks
