just bought 3 new teleflex gauges for my great running "tower of power"
rpm,fuel,battery,
Reason i bought them is my old tach would not work and the needle broke. After i hooked them up My new tach would not work and so i went through the old threads on rpm gauges and found out it was my rectifier,so i changed that and it works My ? is my battery gauge reads about 13 volts at 2000 rpm's but at wot it is about 15.5 volts it is still in the green area on the tach from 12volts to 16 volts just wondering if i should be concerned about the 15.5 volts thanks

The charging system is unregulated, so the battery voltage will rise as the RPM rises. The charging capacity of the systems is small so the battery should absorb the excess amperage w/o issue. Some electronic devices may be sensitive to higher voltages, and if this happens, you may need to add a regulator or a small load to drop the voltage.

could use your running lites to use up some of the extra voltage

Thanks guy's
So what i am getting from your answer's is yes it may be a little high .so i should figure out a way to put some load on it.I was thinking maybe a 500 gph livewell pump might help just leave it on while running. What would be the ideal voltage range on this motor 12-14 volts? also that rectifier that i changed was a used one i had just put it on to see if the rpm gauge would work, and it did i was thinking of buying a new rectifier and keep this one as a sparealso noticed that as i was pushing up the rpms the voltage would go up till it hit 15.5 volts at WOT but if i let off on the throttle it will stay at 15.5 is that normal?

That livewell pump will likely provide a reasonable load. I would not worry about the voltage, unless some of my other electronics objected to the high voltage.

If you are worried about excess voltage, and in my experience it makes running lights fail more quickly if you run WOT a lot, Try the universal 12v rectifier regulator at the link below. Use it in place of the merc rectifier
It will keep the voltage to around 14v max. It is a 4 wire generic device , 2 AC wires in from the stator, Red +12 vdc and black ground or negative
