Re: 1978 Bayliner Quartermaster restoration

Hey all! Sorry it's been so long since I posted any updates. I have reassemble the mid section and mated it up with the bottom section. I also put the gear box back together. I drilled all the holes to remount the Transom shield, fitted the garboard drain. had to modify it to accept the plug that is double threaded so you can open it without removing the plug completly. I will try to post some updated pics in the next couple of weeks. Hope you are all having a great summer.:)

Transom shield after bead blasting. I had already sanded and repainted it. But I was not happy with the way it turned out so we bead blasted it.

Re: 1978 Bayliner Quartermaster restoration

Look at what came today!

But someone forgot to get the wrist pin bushings. Quess I will stop and get those tommorow. By the way here are the part numbers for the Items in the photo. Thease are the Ipdusa numbers that I crossed over. So far everthing looks right. If not I will let you know.
Piston set with rings .030 over: 110700(Correction I used ITM engine components pistons Part#RY2600-30)
Cam bearings standard : 101294
Main bearings standard :101293
Rod bearings standard : 101287
45MM freeze plug : 101299
42MM freze plug : 101301
Funny thing was when I first called they didn't have any parts for me. But after spending 8 hours researching and cross referencing I was able to get all of these through them. Power of the internet. Any how I hope this helps someone else. And just as a reminder mine is n AQ 130D with a AQ280 outdrive. As the tag pictured below shows.

Same exact one i got! thanks allbutwet. i am ordering piston rings from them tomarrow as i do not need new pistons... im gonna have to take the block back to machine shop to bore 30 over...
and i will probably order new rod and main bearings for good measure and longer life for the engine.. thanks for these pictures.. keep us posted sir.
That transom shield came out beautifully!! i am taking two of my outdrive pieces to the Bead Blasting shop tommarow to see the results i will get with trying to paint them... I will post results so you can see if you are following my thread. i am enjoying this one....
maybe one summer day i will be in the Oregon area we should race our boats lol!! they would pretty much be equal except for mine is a 270 outdrive.

What is your plan for repair of the tilt sealing suface boss?

Re: 1978 Bayliner Quartermaster restoration

yeah now that sqbtr mentions it .. it does look broken... (I broke my very first one off just like that because i didnt know the tilt mechanism disassembled at that Shaft/Lifting plate... so i just pulled it up and it snapped exactly like that...

But from what i have read in past posts i think that a Prop Shop can fix that...
can anyone confirm this?

Not sure yet. before I paint this time im going to install the tilt shaft into it and see what I have to work with. A po had globbed it up with clear silicone. If I can seal it from above; I will. Otherwise I might have to get creative. When I get back to it I will let you know what I did.
