Hello, i'm looking for some direction on a 1977 Johnson 25hp I have. The motor turns over perfectly fine, the starter engages as it should but it seems as though the engine is having a hard time catching and staying on. When the motor finally does get going it smokes quite a bit and then shuts down and doesn't seem to like idling. I've had it running before and know that the engine has good compression.
I'm also not sure if the wiring on the switch is totally correct. Instead of using a turn key ignition I am using a 6 prong toggle switch with 3 settings. So if anyone has any ideas on how to correctly wire it that would also be very appreciated!
Thanks!
