Just a small update so far.....decided not to go with windless. the lock i bought is bigger than i anticipated, but will work. the connector is smaller than i thought. but it will also work.... I am now waiting on my wiring and new fuse panel. the reason for this new fuse panel is because its 12 connect, its 300amp rated and will let me know exactly what fuse has blown. also because its ring terminal as opposed to spade connector. next on my list is bumpers, a new fortress anchor, and some other items wich i cant think of right now.

Good call, the deck and cabin top on a sailboat needs to be obstruction free as possible. Anything can trip you up.

small update. that lock i bought is huge. but works really well. i have got it mounted and operational. next will be the bow roller install, then the mast light connector , than last but not least the mast wiring will be done. then its just the small tidbits . (ie: Ring connectors to finish inside wiring, bumpers, vhf install ect)

Good sized solar panel, what's your plans for that?
going to upgrade my battery to a 100ah or 200ah. depending on price. then will be installing a 4000watt inverter for 2 burner induction cooktop, keurig coffee machine, and whatever else we want to run while we are out cruising around. the panel is 100 watts and probly need another one or 2 for the setup im looking to do....

Ok I get it, I suppose the panels will be quick release so you can stow them down below when sailing.

the panel will not be on the bow .... thats just where i put it for now. i will be building a pvc mount on the stern sides so they flip down or up .... under way they will be folded down and at rest they will be in the up position.

got my last hole drilled last night. and amazingly enough with the holes i have drilled ( bow roller and now the mast connector) the deck is solid and bone dry. no soft spots anywhere. so i am assuming that this was well kept under wraps when not being used. but the 80 km winds dampened any soldering to the connector for mast lights.. yes i said solder. yes its a marine connector. as for being far from the mast. understand that i did not want to run the wires inside on the ceiling going to the mast connector . as all my wires run on starboard side it was the obvious place to put this. and its safe and out of the way. yes i know its a longer run for the mast lights to connect to. i will install wire clamps on deck to solve this problem . noone but me goes up on the cabin roof.

small hiccup in the process of trying to get this connector installed. i will not be using this at all. i will be upgrading to a deck connector from binnacle marine. i should soon be done with all wiring in the boat after this one. just the mast left. wich i have to drill the hole a bit bigger in order to get the fish wire to enter.
