All right gentleman, my nemesis is whipping me. The ?armature? plate wobbles like a bent rim on bicycle. She wants to run, but I can't blame her for being difficult, I bet the timing is everywhere. It does run, just hard starting and difficult to keep on. I searched my problem, tried Mr Reeves method of " pinging" the brass or aluminum plate beneath at 12 3 6 &9 o'clock. Still wobbling. Now I have only done love taps. Should I escalate to smacks? What New parts will alleviate this problem if more pinging fails? Thanks

Something is amiss here. That motor has the improved armature plate mounting parts. Should last a long time. Of course, 1975 is a long time, but---

Is the flat piece present between the support ring and armature plate?

EDIT: I just checked the parts list and it does not show the flat piece on that model. So I may be in error, asking that.

Well love taps didn't work. So I followed the advice. A good smack. The plate is stable now. Now to set points...again...I suck at it but I do try. Could the "SET" be any smaller.
