1972 Chrysler Outboard Tachometer

Hi I have a 1972 Chrysler 45hp outboard motor, I am trying to find a tachometer to hook up to it, does anybody know what signal is coming from the white wire labeled 'TACH'? Does the tach have to be specific? Just looking for any input on this topic. Thanks.

Please start your own thread and BTW this thread is 1,5 years old.

The white lead connected to the terminal TACH is comming from the alternator and yes you need a specific tach that can handle a 20 pol alternator signal.
