Does anybody have any knowledge or opinion on Evinrude 100 hp electric shift? It was a fresh water only engine.

State of the art in 1972. Personally, I don't have a lot of love for the Prestolite Battery CD ignition system. Or the fact that it does not have thru-the-tilt-tube steering. You don't have to go far to find somebody that will bad-mouth the Hydro-Electric Shift, but it actually works well in my opinion.

Bottom line, everything depends on condition and completeness on that 50 year old motor. And you better be prepared to do repairs yourself because shops won't touch it. On the other hand, some of us guys like doing that kind of stuff.

I don’t mind working on it I just don’t want to be left in the middle of the bay
