Found a 1968 Starcraft 18 Holiday for free on CL with a 115 johnson and a trailer in South Florida. Decide I needed a project for me and my boys, but mainly for me. Boat has seen salt water, no seats, glove compartment is gone but I have the original aluminum door, dash is gone. Driver side corner is missing as well. Transom backing is like swiss cheese. I have been following a bunch of restoration threads which gives a bit more confidence that i should have for this first time restorer. If I'm finished in time, I would not mind dropping by the 2011 Starcraft restoration crew get-together to meet you all in person. I have big plan for this baby. Only Fresh water for her. When I'm finished she will reside in Lac St-Jean, QC where we go on vacation each year and fish for landlocked salmon. I want her light and fast. Transom will be increased to 25" with new aluminum plate that will reach over and down the inside of the transom, riveted into splashwell to protect with minimal intrusion on transom newly epoxied wood. I'll use nidacore for floor and sides to keep her light. As far as paint is concerned, I would like gold with silver metal flakes.
So far i stripped her, took out transom, cut new transom, took out front everything.
In the process of sanding the inside. Ordered the EFS 2500 paint stripper that Sprint mentioned. Took some pictures along the way. Will post pictures soon. Thanks for the advise Huron Angler.

Free anything is good...a free classic tin Starcraft is great:D

I'd welcome you aboard, but we will need some photos before we get all friendly.

BTW any advice I've given should be double checked, but I'm honored to have possibly helped out at all.:)

Thanks. I'll try to take better pictures. Has anybody ever tried to install a long, low profile fuel tank in between the stringers?

Working on one now actually. You can check the Islander thread in my signature to see how it's going in. Cheers!

That's a great boat. Consider removing IO and putting a bracket with a 200 hp.
