Hi,

I have a 1967 or so Johnson 33 or 34... On the cover it says its 33 the guy I bought it from said its however a 34. I'm not too worry about that since I can always look deeper but does any one know what the MAX speed these get with a 16 foot aluminum?

Thank you.

Actually, there is really no way to know without some more information, like how heavy the boat is, what type of hull (flat or V), etc.
16 footers can vary from a pretty substantial and heavy boat to a light jon boat.

20-24mph on a standard light boat. And it's a 33hp. They never made a 34hp. If you PM me the model # and your email address I should have the parts manual that I can send to you.

HI catbones. It is in fact a 33 hp. I used to have a '66 33 hp myself. Great old "Big Twin" motor with lots of low end torque. You should be able to get mid-hi 20 mph on a 14'-16' boat. Look on the transom clamp for a riveted tag. It should have a model and serial number. You can get any routine parts (carb kits, tune up kits, etc...) you may need right here at iboats for about $20 each. Here are some great links to get you started.

Yes. On the port side of the transom mount it should have a data plate. I also have a '33. Not sure what year though.
