I finally got my first boat. I came across it on craigslist for a good price of $250 no motor was included but can wait on this till repairs get done. The hull is in good shape but the deck and transom need replacing. This is the start of my project I will work on as time and money will permit so its not going to be a quick repair. Get ready I will be asking a lot of questions.

Splash well.

That's a really cool hull! Well worth fixing up. Going to be a total gut job though. All wood will need to be grinded out and replaced.

Thank you for your reply and the correct terminology still learning it all. Got the splash well out.

Working with a hammer and chisel to cut the seams was a job but finally got it all. Next thing to tackle is the deck.

The fiberglass layer on top of the deck is coming up pretty easy.

I see foam coming out and some stringer work from the looks of your deck....

I got the rear part of the floor up no foam there.

Now I need some advice on getting the transom out. I have chipped out all the fiberglass from around the edges of the transom.

I'm not wanting to bust the fiberglass at the transom so I need to be careful just not sure how to go about getting it loose and out, it doesn't look like I will be able to get it out in one piece too rotten.

I like that boat, looks just like one of the old plans I found when I thought I wanted to build a boat. Decided maybe I should restore one and learn to FG before getting into that. Think I have a long way to go before I'll get the wild hair again to build one.

Just keep chiselling it away with a pry bar or large screwdriver. Eventually you'll be down to a wispy layer that you can grind/sand off. The less rotten parts can be loosened by cutting kurfs in it w/ a circular saw set to just less then the depth/thickness of the plywood.

Forgot to add: You can loosen it ply by ply if you have to.

You will just have to chip away at it.....pry bars scrapers etc. A 36 grit grinding disc on a 4 1/2" angle grinder will eat the wood up pretty good when you get down to the last layer ;)
