Can anyone tell me what i need to do to access the bell crank on 1960 Johnson super sea horse 40? From what i have read I have to take the power head off. If that is the case, how difficult is this going to be? If the bell crank is damaged, is it worth repairing?

Any help will be very much appreciated!!!

You do have to remove the powerhead. It isn't nearly as bad as you are thinking. Worth repairing?? I laughed at the question till I looked up the price. $82.61. Is it worth that to you? It is properly called a 305583 Clevis.

Thanks for the help FR. After removing the power head I found that the shaft shift lever was busted 1n 2 places. Found one for 62.00, so worth fixing. Engine runs great otherwise. Thanks again for the help!
