1960 Evinrude 10hp Choke lever

Hi All On to my next issue. I have a 1960 10hp Evinrude and the choke lever won't stay out. I looked at the linkage and it all seems to be there, but it wont stay out. Is there supposed to be a spring clip or something on it? Not sure what I should be looking for.

Maybe a spring on linkages is broken / missing.

I have a 18 hp that had the same issue. I replaced p.n. 204490 on mine. It had a crack in it.

I do not believe the 1960 model 10 HP uses that plastic detent.----Part #204490 is NLA and first used on 1962 model 10 HP.

Yep nla. I got it off of eBay.
