In the Cylmer "Old Outboard Motor" manual they state that for the 1956-68 Johnson/Evinrude 12-20hp, "normal initial setting for both the high speed mixture adjusting needle and the low speed adjusting needle is 3/4 turn from closed position." Does this sound correct?

I dont think they made a 12hp from '56-'68. Oh well. Yes, Levi is correct but I find, anything close is fine, then adjust as soon as it's running. They will all vary somewhat in the adjustment. It even depends on how many packing nuts you put in!
