18' starcraft center console floor replacement

I am getting ready to put a new floor in my uncles starcraft 18' center console nd i am looking for ideas. my questions are

1.do i need to tear out the old floor

2.Has anyone tried the recycled plastic decking that you use at home on your deck or something similar

Any input would be helpful

the only time i would put new over old would be a temp. just to get thru the season.
i don't think there would be enough structure to secure planks in a tinny

Yes pull the old, you might as well check the flotation too, no sense in adding that extra weight other than as Joe mentioned, 'desperate needs'...add in the extra weight if the flotations wet and you can see where I'm heading.

I've heard that compo deck stuff won't pass muster, exterior ply sealed with epoxy resin then covered with your choice of toppings
