18' Lund open aluminum throttle control

Howdy,

Does anyone know how to detach the control handles from the cables on a 78 Lund fishing boat? There are white vinyl connectors that somehow hold them on and i don't want to damage them in removing them. I search for a schematic online but had no luck.

A bit more detail is needed. What control? Merc..... Johnson....yamaha ect

Are you talking about the throttle/shift lever? Most control boxes have nuts on the back side to remove the box from the boat
