175 HP FICHT Year?

I am looking to buy a boat that has a 175 HP FICHT motor.

Model #: E175FPXSSV
Serial #: G 04730035

The date stamp on the tag is 06/1999.

What model year is this engine? I am hoping that it is a 2000 as I am under the impression that by 2000 the FICHT system was pretty good.

If it is a 99 should I be concerned?

I am going to run a compression test on the motor is there any tricks to doing the test on a FICHT motor?

Well I just answered my own question with this link:

The SS in the model number means that it is a 2000.

Now the only question I have is what does the V at the end of the model number designate?

Ok apparantly the V is not that important it is just a "model run or suffix" according to this document:

Are there any concerns in general beyond the typical, "FICHT? OH NO RUN AWAY" bs with this motor that I should be concerned about?

Sure, the resale value BC it's an early Ficht isn't much. I'm not certain, but I think it was 2001 model year when BRP took control and re-QC'd stuff OMC didn't.

I think the worst were the big block V6's, but not positive.
