150 Yamaha OB

Just purchased a 22 ft Scout Albaco with a 150 Yamaha OB and I am wondering if that will be sufficient power. TIA

did you run the boat before purchase?? I would guess that a 150 would probably push that boat into the 40 MPH range, with decent take off power for skiing/tubing. Does boat have trim tabs? these will help get up on a plane quickly. I see a lot of 200-225 motors on 21'-23' boats. I guess it depends on how you will use the boat, and what you want it to do. make sure it is propped right.

i think you will get a top speed about 30 mph.my 20 ft. hull weight 2200 lbs,with a f150 does about 40 mph.

Lets see if I understand this....

You bought a 22' Scout Abaco with a Yamaha 150 and now you come on this forum and ask us how do we think this rig will run??? Sounds a little bass akwards to me.

Here is the Yamaha performance report with a 200. They didn't test it with a 150. Seems like a 150 may be a little light (in power) for that boat...

Welcome to iboats jimmy.
According to Scoutboats.com, the new Abaco 22.5 is rated for 150/225 and max hp is 250.

This should work fine, it won't win any race with boats that size but it will get you there!

Thanks for the performance report. The price was right and didn't want to pass up the opportunity before the boat show. The Albaco has trim tabs, weighs 2400 lbs. looking for water skiing and tubing. I was just worried it had decent take off, not worried about speed.
