125 vs 130 Evinrude

Just a curiosity question. Late 90s V-4 w/ the V-6 gear case; per the manual all the specs are the same except for recommended RPM. Am I correct in assuming that the 125 was the derated commercial version? No actual differences in the engine/lower unit?

The V4s with the larger case are the V6 in style only, they are not the actual V6 case. The gears are different ratio than the V4 or the V6. The V4 looper in commercial version had some minor differences like the heads and no oil injection.
