Default 1999 50 hp tiller Evinrude 4 stroke problems

Hello all,I own a 1999 4 stroke 50 hp Evinrude tiller. The motor ran decent upon purchase, except for some smoking upon start up. At the 20 hour check they adjusted the valves and said everything was ok.After this visit, the motor still smoked upon start up and also developed new problems. While going across the lake at WOT, the engine would cut out, and cycle as if you hit the rev limiter in nuetral, causing the boat to come off of plane abruptly. The motor would not kill or stall when this happened, and after shifting to nuetral and back to gear I could take off again. This happened on an intermittant basis, typically if weather temps were above 70 degrees and I returned to dealer for warranty work about the concern. After 3 trips to the dealer, and the change of the main brain box, inspection of throttle and gear linkage and sensors, and a full water pump and cooling system tear down and inspection by dealer, a full motor inspection and numerous hours of tank testing, they told me the motor is fine, no problems, yet the problem still occurs. Also, since my lasy "warranty" visit, now when coming down off of plane normally, the motor will stall out if the throttle is backed off of too quickly. This is a new issue that developed immediatly after I had it in last. The motor still smokes upon start up, and on hot days or after running at 3/4 throttle or above can be very hard to start or re-start.Also, I checked the oil and now the level is HIGH with the scent of gasoline in it. Wondering what could be the cause of gas getting into the crankcase. The motor has been to the dealer under warranty for all issues except for the gas in the oil, and they say there is nothing wrong with it. The warranty expired and the dealer told me they never want to see that motor again.thank you for any ideas or suggestions in advance, it is greatly appreciated

Is this a carbed or injected motor? Sounds like you are dumping too much fuel into the engine. As to the warranty, does your state have a 'Lemon Law'?

Someone is blowing smoke at you, UJ.The ECM records any failure and gives the wrench the code for what happened.Your dealer "skated" on you. Get a lawyer.

So, they say they never want to see it again, and after each trip to the dealer I end up with another problem on top of another. The ECM records everything, just as the diagnostic systems in vehicles nowdays..that's what I gather. In other words, they don't like me, and have &%$#! my motor up....thanks for the reply JB..I will see what I can do.

So you think they never did any of these tests??? It just seems like it would be a waste of time when they know better.Perhaps they are sabotaging the motor.
