I am 75. I can not lift the motor off the stand. Weight of it ? Might be to much to hand start ? :redface:

I have a shallow 15" transom 16' x 5' Lowe Aluminum fish boat. I fish near a busy, large boat channel with so 2' plus wakes hitting the boat

I am using a 9.9 right now & love the little motor.
Boat is rated for 30 H P. :eek:

if your talking about the early 60,s 28hp motor, depending on which model you have, they go between 125 to almost 139 lbs.yup a model number would shure narrow it down .picture?

If the model # is correct it looks like a long shaft and won't work on your boat.

You guys are good.
Dealer had a long shaft & converted it to a shortshaft for safety.
So what is the weight ? repeated hand start pulling effort .. Actual hp ?
Should I just depend on only using the starter I added to it.
In 1988 ? I could barely pull it fast enough to fire up. I was 50 then. 75 now.

You may want to consider adding an electric start kit to the motor. It is not a portable motor that is easily taken on and off a transom. It is meant to be bolted on for security along with the 2 clamp screws.

I think the 28 specials were low rent 30 hp outboards....

if its hard to start..it needs a tune up....

i bet its about 125 lbs maybe 140 lbs


my 15 hp is over 75 lbs!!!
