I am going to restoring my grandfathers boat soon. You can see that thread here.

It has an lightly used 1997 oil injected Mercury 40 HP on it. Starts and runs great, has good flow from the impeller.
It's on a 18 foot starcraft, gramps only used the boat to putt up to his spot on the lake.
It does actually get the boat on plane fairly easy with 2 people in it. For now I will deal with the
slightly under powered motor for the boat.
Does anyone have info about this motor? good, bad ? Is the oil injection reliable? I have the manuel will need to sit down and read it.
