First off I'm new to the forum, so thanks for any help! I'm lost. Bought this boat, took it out, ran fine, so I bought it. Been having trouble ever sence. After running for a few minuntes, maybe 5 the alarm starts sounding, so I shut it down turn it off gave it a minute, restart and it will run but will not pick up. If you give it throtle it is very slugish and boggs down. Now if you let it set for a long period of time it will pick up and run but then will do the same after a short time. I realized I had the air valve on the gas tank closed so I opened it. This was after I was back at home. Could this be the problem.
New day, Went to lake to try my idea. Boat tried to start, it would run for a second then shut off. Then it would try and start but would not fire off, finaly ran the battery down and brought it home. Stop at store on the way home for new spark plugs because I figured those were fouled, I was right, they where. Put in new plugs and tried to start it but it just spins like it wants to start but wont. So I'm lost and this may make no sense to anyone. LOL but if it does and I can explain further to someone. I would love the help.
Thanks

The alarm is probably "overheat". If you do not know when the water pump was serviced, you're overdue.

First thinhs first.

-Do a compression check. No sense throwing parts at an engine that may be damaged. See the "top Secret" area of this section. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=299680 It will explain how.

-If that's OK, you need to replace the water pump.

-Clean and rebuild the carburetors.

-Check for good crisp spark. That is also explained in the sectioned mentioned above.
