Grinding noise on Cobra 3.0 Outdrive

I have an OMC Cobra 3.0 liter engine with a 3.0 Cobra outdrive. The problem I am having is that when I shift it to forward I hear a grinding noise. To test it, I left it on forward then went and lightly put a broom to the propeller, and it stopped spinning.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this problem? And how to fix it.

PS. Everything seems to work great in reverse.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Drain the drive oil, 'n look for metal...
