When I trim the motor all the way up it will be all the way back down in less than 5 minutes. When in the water I am constantly having to trim it back up every min or so. Any fix for this?

If you have screw-in valves like these, then either buy new ones, take them apart and put in new O rings (the tiny ones inside the valve), or remove both valves and reverse them. Frequently the "down" valve is in better condition than the "up" one and you can get a little more time.

If your pump is different, then you need a rebuild.

My 85 did the same thing, turned out to be the valve body, it has been covered in the treads. If you are lucky RRitt will see this. He rebuilt mine and it works great! Do a search on e-bay for valve body repair.

If you are saying buy new and swap the check valves - no can do Frank.
The chinese ones have metric thread pitch and the domestic use retaining clips.
The new tiny orings should work pretty good with this style. The plugs are easy to get out and the briggs carb kits have the right size oring. As valve bodies go, the allen key style is a fairly easy DIY.
I have rebuild service listed on ebay from time to time. If I get too busy I pull them off.
