I have a 1977 4.5 merc outboard starts right up in choke and stalls when I switch to fuel. Runs fine with the choke in neutral, but when I shift to forward it stalls out. I got back to the dock in reverse - ran at full throttle in reverse. I added startron to the fuel before this happened hoping to solve the stalling problem from choke to fuel, so I'm not sure if the problem is with the fuel. Any Ideas? Do I need to take the motor to the mechanic?
