Found a pontoon with this 2005 Yamaha 150 & 75 hours. Boat is like showroom, but I am concerned about hours too low? Also read elsewhere that the balancer on this year Yamaha motor could go bad at 150-200 hours?

1st boat, so need experienced feedback.

Also, how much to deduct from price without the motor?

Thanks

Never heard about the balancer but Yamaha is is really good engine and with only 75 hours it is barely broken in, why are you worried about low hours, that is generally a good thing, like finding a 2005 car with 12,000.

I just bought a motorcycle and that was the primary selling point, it is a 2002 but only has 4000 miles on it so despite being 10 years old it is still almost new.

I really doubt the guy will set it without the engine and again why would you want him too, it is almost new, most guys on here would be thrilled to find a boat with that few hours.

What brand is the boat, that will figure more into peoples answers.

+1 ^^^. You didn't specify weather the motor was a carb. 2-stroke, HPDI fuel injected 2-stroke, or 4-stroke, but if you're concerned, have it checked out by a qualified mechanic. It's worth the $100 - $200. Good luck !!!
