I cant find where my motor should be pumping water 1974 johnson 9.9

I have a 1974 johnson 9.9 I cant figure out where it is supposed to have the pee stream I also have a 1981 evinrude 7.5 and that one is on the bottom of the cowl. Thanks

I don't think they used a tell-tale in 1974, the water will come out of a port on the exhaust housing and through the prop.
You can install a tell-tale, run a search, lots of info on how to do it.

wow that was fast thanks. So there is no way to tell if its pumping water?

If you have it in a barrel or in the water you should see water spitting out of the exhaust port on the back of the exhaust housing.

got it so its just misting out with the exhaust in that little port not a stream is that how it should be?

On my 77 15hp which does have a pee hole it still blows a mist out of the exhaust holes after the thermostat opens plus water coming out thru prop.
