Was thinking about putting some octane boost in the gas. Would this help or hurt, this is gas from last fall and in a previous post I have some crud in the tank that I put Star Tron in to try and break it down so it will run through till I can get some fresh gas in it. Would the octane boost make it run hotter? I'm not real sure so I have to ask. Thanks for any comments. 1988 OMC 260 Cobra

The only thing I could see octane boost doing is mask the symptom of run-on.

In my opinion I think you should pump that old gas out of your tank getting the chunks out at the same time, and put fresh gas in. Todays gas is 10% ethanol in most places and octane booster is just adding more alcahol to it which is how the problem started in the first place. Ethanol fuel seperates alot faster than real gas.

What do you do with 80 gallons of fuel?

get a bunch of fuel containers, let it settle, use it in you vehicle, easier to push a car to a gas station than a boat to a dock. that what I did with the 6+ year old fuel I took out of my friends boat, my truck ran great even though the gas was aged it wasnt 10E though.
