Just bought (2) 250hp EFI 2000 can't find serial numbers project new to mercury o/b's

Guy told me they were 225hp got their and they are 250hp.

Brand new to Mercury first ones I've owned. Have a lot of engine rebuilding experience.

Have not been able to find serial numbers on either engine.

The engine has a mini alternator on top being spun by a belt. Appears to be around a 2000 250 EFI but with no serial numbers not sure.

Got one running with good compression prior to starting at 105-115 for all six cylinders.

This is a project boat/engine situation.

any helpful advice insights on these motors would be very apprciated.
