will this lower unit fit 115 hp merc ?

Hi all, wondering if a lower unit from 1987 motor with serial #OB145472 115hp merc, will fit my 1982 115hp merc serial #6093810. iam looking to buy the lower unit off the 1987 motor because the power head is junk and can get it cheap, and can get me on the water this year. Wondering if the shift shaft and driveshaft lengths will be the same, and even bolt pattern is the same. Thank you to who ever replies back with the answer. Really looking to find a lower unit for my 82

As long as the '87 is an Inline Six, the newer lower unit will interchange to an '82 Tower of Power.

Most likely both motors are 20" transom height (longshaft), since 80's-vintage Shorties are extremely rare. Measure shaft length on both lower units if you have any doubts.

I have one problem I don't have the original lower unit anymore. Can anyone tell me how long the drive shaft is supposed to be?

Oops I replied with quote, looking for driveshaft length and possibly shift shaft length of the lower unit for the 82 merc mentioned above
