I have a 1988 70 hp evinrude. I am getting close to reassembling it..the retainer for the timing base was cracked and broken...what i have is a yellowish split retainer and a broken black retainer. i cant remember if they are one assembly or if one of the parts is PART of the timing base. they both are split with angled edges, meaning they can go on and off while the motor is assembled I guess.

when i look in the parts diagram, is says retainer....as in ..only one....if i buy that, will i get BOTH the yellow and black pieces?

thanks

Re: timing base retainer

It requires only one. Sounds like you have two different styles of retainers but both do the same job.

Re: timing base retainer

The retainer is actually white. The part number is 313666.

Re: timing base retainer

thanks, the white one has turned yellowish....funny thing they were both on the base!!....the white-yellow one is complete and can probably be used again...the black one is craked and broken and missing sections.
