Is there any difference between electric ignition and standard (point) spark plug wires? Could you use so called electric ignition wires with a point/standard system? and vise a versa? Just as long as they are marine/solid copper wire?

I've heard a few people say that you can also use stranded wires off of automotive use if you use grease on the ends. . is this true?
