Help with 4HP year of manufacture and mixture

I recently purchased an Evinrude 4 HP outboard model 4W69B, sn E3143483. Could you tell me the year of manufacture, and fuel ratio please? Would be much appreciated.

Welcome to iboats. :)

The model year is 1969, but it was probably actually made in 1968.

The "Official" fuel mix is 50:1, but most gurus on small JohnnyRudes suggest 24:1 for pre-1970 models due to the remaining sleeve bearings.

It's a '69 Johnson 4hp. I run my '71 Evinrude 4hp at 50/1, I assume that's what yours would require. Smart folks will chime in.. Nice motors!

You say Evinrude but the number you gave is a Johnson model number. Either way they are great motors. Run all day on a gallon of fuel. As stated previous 50/1 is the recipe but I have changed mine to 30/1 out of fear. Best of luck. Rick.

Yep, I would respectfully recemend 24:1 on that one.

Thanks for all of the informative replies. Yes, I did mistate that the motor was an Evinrude when in fact it is a Johnson.
